Data security giant Cyera has signed a letter of intent to acquire non-human identity pioneer Oasis Security for approximately $1 billion in a cash-and-stock transaction announced on Tuesday, aiming to protect enterprises from the risks of rapidly proliferating AI agents.
Addressing the Threat of Unmonitored AI Agents
Oasis Security focuses specifically on securing non-human identities, with a primary emphasis on AI agents. As businesses deploy these autonomous digital entities at an unprecedented rate, the demand for cybersecurity software capable of monitoring their behaviour and managing their access permissions to other enterprise software has intensified.
This landmark acquisition underscores the explosive growth of the cybersecurity sector dedicated to shielding modern enterprises from AI-driven vulnerabilities and weaponised digital threats.
The Strategic Value and Funding Behind Oasis
Established in 2022, Oasis Security has quickly established itself as a critical player in the identity security space. Prior to this acquisition, the startup secured roughly $195 million in funding from prominent venture capital firms, including Accel, Craft Ventures, and Cyberstarts.
Following the completion of the transaction, Cyera intends to merge Oasis’s proprietary technology into its own unified identity and data security platform, creating a comprehensive defence system for corporate networks.
Cyera’s Rapid Growth and Path to Profitability
This latest deal cements Cyera’s position as an aggressive consolidator in the cybersecurity market. The company, which shares key backers Accel and Cyberstarts with Oasis, has recently completed acquisitions of Index Ventures-backed Ryft and the early-stage startup Genie Security.
Funding and Valuation Milestones
The acquisition comes on the heels of Cyera raising $600 million at a $12 billion valuation. Despite boasting an annual recurring revenue (ARR) that recently breached the $150 million mark, the five-year-old firm is not yet profitable. To date, Cyera has accumulated approximately $2.3 billion in total funding as it scales its operations globally.
