Trump-branded phone provider Trump Mobile has confirmed this week that it left sensitive customer details—including names, email addresses, physical addresses, and mobile numbers—exposed to the open internet due to a third-party configuration error.
Security Investigation Underway
Chris Walker, a spokesperson for the Trump-branded phone manufacturer, stated that the firm is actively investigating the incident. According to Walker, there is currently no evidence that financial details or message contents were compromised. The company also clarified that its internal networks, systems, and infrastructure remained entirely secure during the incident.
Instead, Walker attributed the data exposure to an unnamed third-party platform provider that supports “certain Trump Mobile operations.”
How the Security Flaw Was Discovered
The official admission follows mounting reports earlier this week indicating that customer databases were openly accessible online.
Two prominent YouTube creators, Coffeezilla and penguinz0, who had purchased the Trump Mobile device, revealed that an independent security researcher warned them their personal information was visible to the public. Both content creators attempted to contact Trump Mobile to report the vulnerability after the researcher’s own warning attempts went unanswered.
Will Affected Customers Be Notified?
Trump Mobile is currently assessing whether it is required to formally notify the affected customers regarding the exposure of their personal data.
