James Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster Avatar: Fire and Ash is officially heading to Disney+ on June 24, bringing the high-stakes battle for Pandora to streaming screens nationwide just six months after its theatrical debut.

During Disney’s Upfront presentation on Tuesday, franchise star Sigourney Weaver took the stage to deliver the highly anticipated announcement. Fans of the record-breaking sci-fi saga will finally be able to stream the third installment from the comfort of their homes starting late June.

New Threats and Alliances on Pandora

Avatar: Fire and Ash continues the epic journey of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) as they face their most dangerous challenge yet. The couple remains firmly in the crosshairs of Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang) and his relentless military squad.

This third chapter introduces a dangerous new dynamic with franchise newcomer Oona Chaplin, who portrays Varang. Varang leads a hostile, opposing Na’vi clan that forms an alliance with Quaritch’s military forces, escalating the conflict and threatening the survival of the Sully family.

James Cameron’s Record-Breaking Legacy

Since the groundbreaking release of the original Avatar in 2009, James Cameron has consistently redefined modern cinema. His visionary approach to filmmaking has introduced revolutionary production technologies and pushed the absolute limits of computer-generated imagery (CGI).

This commitment to cinematic innovation has translated into historic box office success. The original Avatar remains the highest-grossing film of all time, pulling in an astounding $2.9 billion worldwide. Its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, holds the spot as the third-highest-grossing film in history, trailing only behind Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. Audiences looking to catch up on the saga can currently stream the first two films on Disney+ ahead of the June release.
